CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 3RD MARCH 2026 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 3693 (+1253) Numbers lifted by 1253 for a yarding of 3693 cattle. Quality was good with lightweight cattle suitable for feeders and re-stockers making up most of the sale. There were limited prime fat cattle, and most cows were in secondary condition. There was a large buying group operating and competition was strong, mainly around light store cattle. Young cattle to the trade were firm to 10c dearer, prime yearling steers and heifers selling from 420c to 470c/kg. Feeder steers lifted 10c, selling from 433c to 539c/kg. Feeder heifers were 20c dearer, they sold from 418c to 470c/kg. Weaner steers to re-stockers reached 568c, and weaner heifers to 498c/kg. Prime grown cattle were firm to dearer, heavy steers selling from 420c to 464c, and heavy heifers, 345c to 488c/kg. Cows were 12c dearer, 2 and 3 scores sold from 288c to 400c, and heavy prime cows, 388c to 416c/kg. Heavy bulls reached 428c/kg. Quality was mixed with much of the yarding light store lambs, along with limited supplies of trade and heavy lambs mixed throughout. Large rainfalls across the region lifted demand amongst buyers and prices were considerably dearer across all grades. Lightweight processing lambs to 18kg sold from $140 to $234/head. Trade weights 20kg to 24kg were up to $20 dearer, selling from $244 to $299/head. Heavy lambs over 24kg gained $20 to $25, selling from $288 to $344/head. Carcass prices averaged between 1160c and 1230c/kg cwt. Heavy hoggets reached $270, and light lambs to re- stockers sold to $260/head. There was 2075 mixed quality mutton yarded and prices held firm. Merino ewes sold from $70 to $197, and crossbred ewes, $125 to $292/head. Merino Wethers sold from $130 to $227, and heavy rams sold to $170/head. Most sheep sold in the range of 840c to 860c/kg cwt.
