CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 10TH DECEMBER SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 2420 Numbers remained similar to last week with 2420 cattle yarded. Quality was good with mainly feeder weights penned along with good supplies of heavy prime cattle and cows. All the regular buyers were present. Young cattle to the trade were firm to 5c dearer, prime yearling steers sold from 330c to 354c/kg and prime yearling heifers 260c to 339c/kg. Feeder steers gained 5c selling from 310c to 390c/kg and feeder heifers held firm at 280c to 328c/kg. Light weight re-stockers steers sold from 300c to 437c/kg and the re-stocker heifers 200c to 318c/kg. Prime grown cattle were firm, with heavy steers selling from 264c to 360c/kg, heavy heifers 255c to 342c/kg. Cows lifted 6c to 8c with 2 and 3 scores selling from 220c to 283c. Prime heavy cows 278c to 298c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 324c/kg. Quality was mixed with good runs of trade weights on offer, along with lighter store lambs and limited supplies of heavy weights. All the regular buyers were operating. Lightweight processing lambs to 18kg were $5 to $10 dearer with new season lambs selling from $80 to $162, old lambs $90 to $150/head. Trade weights 20kg to 24kg were firm to $5 dearer, new season lambs sold from $175 to $225 averaging 860c to 900c/kg cwt. Old trade weight lambs $175 to $215/head. Heavy weights over 24kg held firm with the new season lambs selling between $228 and $235 to average from 890c to 920c/kg cwt. Heavy hoggets were considerably dearer selling to $ 220/head. There was 3438 mixed quality mutton also yarded, and prices lifted $10 across most grades. Merino ewes sold from $51 to $102 with crossbred ewes selling from $58 to $148/head. Merino wethers sold to $ 118 and crossbred wethers to $160/head. Most sold in a range of 410c to 450c/kg cwt.
