CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2024 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 1503 Numbers lifted by 344 for a yarding of 1503 cattle. Quality was good with large numbers of medium weight feeders on offer, prime grown cattle and cows were also well supplied. Not all the regular buyers were present, and competition lacked in places. Young cattle to the trade were firm to cheaper, prime yearling steers sold from 290c to 360c, and prime yearling heifers, 285c to 361c/kg. Feeder steers eased 5c, 305c to 400c, while feeder heifers gained 15c, 275c to 386c/kg. Prime grown steers sold 20c cheaper, 300c to 355c, and prime grown heifers were firm to cheaper, 270c to 360c/kg. Cows sold firm to to slightly dearer, 2 and 3 scores sold from 200c to 310c, and heavy prime cows, 300c to 342c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 300c/kg. Quality was mixed with large numbers of secondary store lambs along with good runs of trade weights and limited supply of heavy lambs. Not all the regular buyers were present. Trade and heavy weight new season lambs sold from $185 to $210/head, averaging 790c to 830c/kg cwt. Lightweight processing lambs to 18kg were firm and ranged from $30 to $70/ head. Trade lambs 20kg to 24kg gained $4, $160 to $197/head, averaging 770c to 800c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs over 24kg held firm, $206 to $230/head, to average between 830c and 850c/kg cwt. Heavy hoggets reached $160/head. There was 1337 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices were firm. Merino ewes sold from $32 to $86 and crossbred ewes. $38 to $95/head. Merino Wethers reached $86 and crossbred rams sold to $39/ head. Most sold between 280c and 330c/ kg cwt.
