CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: LAMB & SHEEP SALE DATE: TUESDAY 15TH OCTOBER SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 1944 Supply increased by 856 for a yarding of 1944 cattle. Quality was mixed with mostly lightweight cattle yarded suitable for feeders and re-stockers, however competition lacked in places. Heavy prime cattle were in demand and well supplied. Most of the cows supplied were medium weights with limited heavyweights on offer. Most of the regular buyers were present. Young cattle to the trade held firm, prime yearling steers sold from 260c to 342c. and prime yearling heifers, 280c to 330c/ kg. Medium weight feeder steers dropped 10c, 310c to 370c, and feeder heifers were firm to 5c cheaper, 240c to 315c/kg. Lightweight re-stocker steers sold dearer, 286c to 429c, while re-stocker heifers fell 20c, 214c to 320c/kg. Prime grown steers were 25c dearer, 288c to 367c, and prime grown heifers held firm, 230c to 335c/kg. Cows dropped 10c, 2 and 3 scores sold from 140c to 288c, and heavy prime cows, 282c to 300c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 295c/kg. Quality was mixed with good supplies of new season trade and heavy weight along with lighter old lambs mixed throughout. All the regular buyers were present. Lightweight new season lambs to 18kg sold from $100 to $145, while old lambs sold to $120/head. Trade weight new season lambs 20kg to 24Kg gained $4, $175 to $210/head, averaging 810c to 830c/kg cwt. Trade weight old lambs eased $5, $138 to $177/head, or 690c to 740c/kg cwt. Heavy weight new season lambs over 24Kg sold from $203 to $225, and heavyweight old lambs, $188 to $248/head, averaging 790c to 830c/kg cwt. Heavy hoggets reached $140/head. There was 1530 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices held firm. Re-stocker Merino ewes sold to $88 and medium to heavy weight crossbred ewes sold from $50 to $106/head.
