CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 27TH JANUARY SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 2142 (-1410) Numbers dropped by 1410 for a yarding of 2142 cattle. Quality was mixed with mostly lightweight cattle yarded, suitable for feeders and re-stockers. There were limited supplies of heavy prime cattle and cows. Not all the regular buyers were operating. Young cattle to the trade were form to 10c dearer. Prime yearling steers selling from 320c to 456c, and prime yearling heifers, 350c to 460c/kg. Feeder steers were steady, selling from 380c to 486c, and feeder heifers were back 10c, 371c to 430c/kg. Prime grown steers lifted 10c, selling from 400c to 459c, and prime grown heifers were firm, 355c to 453c/kg. Cows were 10c to 15c cheaper, 2 and 3 scores selling from 220c to 380c, and heavy prime cows, 375c to 387c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 397c/kg. Quality improved with good numbers of trade weights, along with the regular supply of lightweight secondary lambs suitable for re-stockers. All the regular buyers were operating. Lightweight processing lambs to 18kg lifted $15, selling from $131 to $212/ head. Trade weights 20kg to 24kg were $8 dearer, selling from $230 to $260/ head. Heavy lambs over 24kg were $6 better, they sold from $242 to $310/head. Carcass prices averaged between 1050c and 1100c/kg cwt. Light lambs to re- stockers sold to $248, and heavy hoggets reached $240/head. There was 3249 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices were up to $20 dearer. Merino ewes sold from $94 to $263, and crossbred ewes, $141 to $264/ head. Merino Wethers sold from $189 to $240/head. Most sheep sold in the range of 820c to 860c/kg cwt.
