Quality was fair with a good supply of feeder cattle on offer along with limited numbers of prime cattle. All the regular buyers were present. Young cattle to the trade sold stronger, prime yearling steers gained 2c and sold to 380c, while prime yearling heifers were up to 20c dearer, 302c to 383c/kg. Feeder steers were 15c dearer selling from 336c to 426c and feeder heifers, 10c better. 290c to 368c/kg. Prime grown cattle sold 15c to 30c stronger, heavy steers selling from 310c to 400c and heavy heifers, 255c to 379c/kg. Cows eased 6c, 2 and 3 scores sold from 150c to 298c and heavy prime cows, 285c to 322c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 265c/kg. There were mainly trade and heavy lambs penned, extra heavies were limited in supply and 800 new season lambs were offered. All the buyers were present along with the couple extras and competition was strong resulting in an improvement in prices across all grades. Medium and heavy trade weight lambs were $7 dearer and averaged 780c to 835c/kg cwt with 23 to 24kg selling from $188 to $212/head. Heavy trade new seasons sold from $209 to $218/head and averaged 895c/kg cwt. Heavy weight lambs were $4 to $12/head dearer and averaged from 830c to 840c/ $223 while extra heavy weights sold to a kg cwt. Heavy weights sold from $205 to top of $277.20/head. Mutton numbers fell and quality was up and down with prices mostly firm.
