CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 24TH FEBRUARY 2026 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 2440 (-1220) Numbers were back by 1220 for a yarding of 2440 cattle. Quality was good with large supplies of lightweight cattle suitable for feeders and re-stockers. There were limited numbers of heavy prime cattle and cows on offer. All the regular buyers were operating, and the market sold to a stronger trend. Young cattle to the trade were 15c to 20c dearer, prime yearling steers selling from 468c to 475c, and prime yearling heifers, 430c to 449c/kg. Feeder steers lifted 15c, selling from 435c to 546c, and feeder heifers gained 10c, 410c to 463c/kg. Lightweight steers to re-stockers reached 544c, and re-stocker heifers to 452c/kg. Prime grown cattle were 20c to 30c dearer, heavy steers sold from 430c to 470c, and heavy heifers, 420c to 458c/ kg. Cows were 5c better, 2 and 3 scores sold from 344 to 386c, and heavy prime cows, 374c to 394c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 413c/kg. Despite the small yarding, quality was good with trade I and heavy lambs well supplied. Lighter secondary types suitable for re-stockers were in smaller numbers. All the regular buyers were operating and the market sold to a dearer trend. Trade weights 20kg to 24kg lifted $10 and more in places, they sold from $236 to $273/head, averaging 1100c to 1150c/ kg cwt. Heavy lambs over 24kg were $15 to $20 dearer, selling from $276 to $340/ head, averaging 1090c/kg cwt. Light lambs to re-stockers sold to $233, and heavy hoggets reached, $250/head. There was 2430 mixed quality mutton yarded and prices were strong. Merino ewes sold from $122 to $192, and crossbred ewes, $142 to $309/head.
