CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE : TUESDAY 17TH DECEMBER SALE YARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 1483 Numbers were down by 937 for the last sale of the year, with a yarding of 1483 cattle. Quality was mixed, there were good runs of feeder weights and heavy prime cattle on offer, along with runs of secondary types. Not all the regular buyers were operating. Prime yearling steers were down 12c, 320c to 330c, and prime yearling heifers held firm, 250c to 340c/kg. Feeder steers were 10c cheaper, 303c to 368c, while feeder heifers went against the trend and lifted 15c, 285c to 345c/kg. Prime grown cattle were 5c cheaper, heavy steers sold from 262c to 335c, and heavy heifers, 240c to 325c/kg. Cows were down 7c, 2 and 3 scores sold from 190c to 277c, and heavy prime cows, 270c to 290c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 280c/kg. Quality was mixed with mostly trade and store lambs penned with limited supplies of heavy weights available. Most of the regular buyers were operating. Lightweight processing lambs to 18kg were $6 dearer, new season lambs selling from $110 to $170, and old lambs, $86 to $130/head. Trade weights 20kg to 24Kg sold $10 better and more in places, new season lambs selling from $176 to $234, averaging 880c to 940c/kg cwt, and old lambs of the same weight, $188 to $230/head. The limited supply of heavy lambs over 24Kg lifted $15, selling to $244, I and heavy hoggets reached $210/head. There was 3330 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices held firm. Merino ewes sold from $52 to $112, and crossbred ewes, $30 to $145/ head. Merino wethers sold from $48 to $98, and crossbred rams sold to $27/head. Most sold in the range of 410c to 460c/kg cwt.
