CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 20TH AUGUST 2024 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 910 Numbers dropped by 983 for a yarding of 910 cattle. Quality was good with mainly feeder weights penned and limited numbers of prime grown cattle. Not all the regular buyers were present. Young cattle to the trade held firm, prime yearling steers sold from 340c to 385c, and prime yearling heifers, 300c to 396c/ kg. Feeder steers were up to 20c dearer selling from 310c to 448c and feeder heifers lifted 10c, 281c to 374c/kg. Prime grown steers dropped 13c, 352c to 377c, while prime grown heifers held firm, 297c to 366c/kg. 2 and 3 score cows were 20c dearer, 222c to 310c and heavy prime cows gained 8c, 310c to 349c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 310c/kg. Quality was mixed with good runs of heavy lambs on offer however the bulk of the yarding was made up of plainer types. Not all the regular buyers were present, and the market sold firm to cheaper. Light trade weight new season lambs sold between $130 and $160/head. Old lightweight processing lambs to 18kg held firm, $70 to $130/head. Trade lambs 20kg to 24Kg eased $5, $160 to $199/head to average 770c to 820c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs were firm to $3 cheaper, lambs to 30kg sold from $210 to $242 and extra heavies sold to $266/head, averaging between 820c and 850c/kg cwt. Heavy hoggets reached $155/head. There was 972 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices were firm. Merino ewes sold from $55 to $77 and crossbred ewes, $70 to $130/head. Most averaging between 360c and 380c/kg cwt.
