CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX CATTLE REPORT REPORT DATE: 01/10/2024 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 1338 (-365) Numbers dropped by 365 for a yarding of 1338 cattle. Quality was good with feeder weights well supplied. There were limited numbers of heavy grown cattle on offer. All the regular buyers were present. Young cattle to the trade were 10c dearer, prime yearling steers sold from 348 to 360c and prime yearling heifers, 275c to 354c/kg. Feeder steers gained 10c, 300c to 391c, while feeder heifers eased 5c, 280c to 330c/kg. Lightweight cattle to the restockers were dearer, steers sold from 310c to 440c, and heifers, 242c to 330c/kg. Quality was mixed with mostly trade weights penned along with lighter secondary types. Heavy weights were well supplied, as were new season lambs. All the regular buyers were present. New season lambs held firm, trade weights sold from $178 to $194, and heavy weights, $210 to $225/head, most averaging between 800c and 850c/kg cwt. Lightweight old lambs to 18kg were $8 cheaper, $90 to $130/head. Trade weights 20kg to 24Kg remained firm, $150 to $187/head, averaging 750c to 800c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs over 24Kg eased $6, $190 to $244/head, averaging between 790c and 830c/kg cwt. Heavy hoggets reached $157/head. There was 1692 mixed quality mutton yarded and prices eased $5 to $10. Merino ewes sold from $25 to $100, and crossbred ewes, $34 to $105/head. Heavy Prime grown steers were up to 20c dearer, 270 to 347c, and prime grown heifers lifted 3c, 270c to 356c/kg. Cows remained firm, 2 and 3 scores sold from 216c to 303c, and heavy prime cows, 302c to 322c/kg. Merino wethers sold to $88, and crossbred Heavy bulls sold to 295/kg. wethers to $120/head. Most sold between 290c and 320c/kg cwt.
