CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 24TH SEPTEMBER 2024 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 1703 (+200) Numbers lifted by 200 for a yarding of 1703 cattle. Quality was good with mostly feeder weights penned and limited supply of heavy prime cattle. Most of the regular buyers were present. Young cattle to the trade held firm, prime yearling steers sold from 340c to 343c, and prime yearling heifers, 270c to 345c/ kg. Light to medium weight feeder steers dropped 6c while the heavy weights were dearer, they sold between 312c and 420c/ kg. Feeder heifers were 10c cheaper, 270c to 345c/kg. Young cattle to restockers were cheaper, steers sold from 300c to 428c and heifers, 208c to 328c/kg. Prime grown steers were considerably cheaper, 260c to 336c, while prime grown heifers held firm, 290c to 338c/kg. Cows were 10c cheaper, 2 and 3 scores sold from 200c to 308c, and heavy prime cows, 300c to 325c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 295c/kg. Quality was mixed with good supplies of trade lambs as well as lighter store lambs. New season lambs were also well supplied. All the regular buyers were present, and the market sold firm. New season trade and heavyweight lambs lifted $5, $175 to $210/head, to average 790c to 850c/kg cwt. Old lightweight lambs to 18kg were firm, $110 to $142/head. Trade weights 20kg to 24kg sold from $167 to $204/head, averaging 760c to 810c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs over 24Kg averaged 810c to 830c/ kg cwt, selling between $210 and $228, an extra heavy lamb reached $276/head. There was 1818 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices lifted $5 across most grades. Crossbred ewes sold from $45 to $112/head. Merino wethers sold from $66 to $105 and crossbred wethers, $88 to $121/head. Most sold between 310c and 350c/kg cwt.
