CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 27TH AUGUST SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 1128 Numbers lifted by 218 for a yarding of 1128 cattle. Quality was good with the majority of the yarding made up of young cattle suitable for feeders and re-stockers. There was very limited supply of prime yearlings and grown cattle. Not all the regular buyers were present. Young cattle to the trade were firm to cheaper, prime yearling steers sold from 340c to 380c, and heifers, 290c to 360c/ kg. Feeder steers sold 8c cheaper, 294c to 428c, while feeder heifers lifted 4c, 280c to 369c/kg. Young cattle to re-stockers were dearer, light steers sold from 330c to 439c, and heifers, 300c to 370c/kg. Prime grown steers dropped 15c, 297c to 350c, and prime grown heifers held firm, 283c to 361c/kg. Cows were firm to 3c cheaper, 2 and 3 scores sold from 200c to 315c, and heavy prime cows, 315c to 342c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 310c/kg. Quality was mixed with trade lambs well supplied along with a few runs of well finished heavy lambs. Most of the regular buyers were present. The few pens of trade weight new season lambs sold to $175/head to average 790c/kg cwt. Lightweight old lambs to 18kg lifted $4. $63 to $138/head. Trade lambs 20kg to 24kg eased $3, $158 to $193/head, averaging 750c to 800c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs over 24Kg held firm, $200 to $240/ head, averaging 830c to 850c/kg cwt. Heavy hoggets reached $175/head. There was 1539 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices improved $8 across most grades. Merino ewes sold from $35 to $95, and crossbred ewes, $88 to $136/ head. Merino Wethers sold to $83 and crossbred Wethers, $130/head. Most sold between 370c and 400c/kg.
