CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 22ND OCTOBER 2024 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 1904 Numbers remained similar to last week with 1904 cattle yarded. Quality was mixed with mainly feeder weights penned and limited supply of heavy prime cattle. There were large numbers of lightweight young cattle suitable for the re-stocker demand. All the regular buyers were present. Young cattle to the trade lifted 10c to 15c, prime yearling steers sold from 245c to 366c, and prime yearling heifers, 248c to 334c/kg. Feeder steers were firm to cheaper, 314c to 362c, and feeder heifers gained 3c, 250c to 327c/kg. Lightweight re-stocker cattle were up to 20c dearer, steers sold from 228c to 413c, and heifers, 240c to 331c/kg. Prime grown steers held firm selling from 240c to 367c, while prime grown heifers gained 10c, 240c to 338c/kg. 2 and 3 score cows were 5c to 10c better, 182c to 283c, while heavy prime cows were 7c cheaper, 280c to 298c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 300c/kg. It was the best showing of new season lambs so far with trade and heavy weights the best supplied. Old lambs of similar weight were mixed throughout the sale. All the regular buyers were present. Lightweight new season lambs to process were $11 dearer, $94 to $130/head. Trade weight new season lambs 20kg to 24Kg held firm, $170 to $206, averaging 800c to 850c, and new season heavyweights over 24Kg gained $15, $213 to $268/head, averaging 850c to 870c/kg cwt. Trade weight old lambs lifted $14, $168 to $202, or 780c to 810c, while heavyweights were firm to slightly dearer, $226 to $238/ head, to average between 840c and 860c/ kg cwt. A pen of extra heavy lambs sold for $299/head. Heavy hoggets reached $140/ head. There was 2079 mixed quality mutton yarded, and prices lifted $5 across most grades. Merino ewes sold from $40 to $115, and crossbred ewes, $54 to $120/head. Merino Wethers sold from $68 to $107, and crossbred Wethers, $77 to $90/head. Most sold in the range of 300c to 340c/kg cwt.
