CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 4TH JUNE 2024 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 2036 Numbers dropped by 806 for a yarding of 2036 cattle. Quality was good with mostly lightweight cattle suitable for feeder and restockers penned. There was also a good supply of heavy prime cattle. Most of the regular buyers were present. Young cattle to the trade were firm to dearer, vealer steers and heifers sold from 230c to 300c/kg. Prime yearling steers sold between 281c and 370c and prime yearling heifers gained 5c to 10c, 290c to 346c/kg. Feeder steers sold 5c dearer, 280c to 380c and feeder heifers were 20c dearer, 250c to 342c/kg. Prime grown cattle were 6c to 8c dearer, heavy steers sold from 260c to 342c and heavy heifers 220c to 339c/kg. Cows were firm to 6c dearer, 2 and 3 scores sold from 142c to 220c and heavy prime cows, 214c to 242c/kg. Heavy bulls sold to 236c/kg. Quality lacked with mostly light store lambs and trade weights penned. There were a few good pens of heavy lambs mixed throughout. All the regular buyers were present. Lightweight processing lambs to 18kg gained $5 selling from $60 to $130/head. Trade weights lambs 20kg to 24kg were $7 dearer, selling from $141 to $176/head, averaging 680c to 720c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs over 24kg also $7 dearer, they sold from $176 to $230/head to average 700c to 740c/kg cwt. Heavy hoggets reached $149/head. There was 2737 mixed quality mutton yarded were prices were firm to cheaper. Merino ewes sold from $63 to $120 and crossbred ewes $56 to $130/head. Merino wethers reached $90 and crossbreds $110/head. Most sold between 270c and 310c/kg cwt.
