CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 28TH MAY 2024 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 2842 Number eased by 463 for a yarding of 2842 cattle. Quality was good with the majority of the yarding made up of feeder weights. There was also a good supply of young weaners and prime grown cattle. All the regular buyers were present. Prime yearling steers were firm selling from 320c to 355c while the prime yearling heifers gained 10c, 260c to 313c/kg. Feeder steers sold firm to 5c dearer, 270c to 379c and feeder heifers also firm, 220c to 314c/kg. Prime grown steers and heifers were firm to a few cents dearer. Heavy steers sold between 230c and 330c and heavy heifers, 255c to 324c/kg. Cows dropped 10c to 15c, 2 and 3 scores sold from 120c to 216c and heavy prime cows 210c to 228c/kg. Bulls sold to 238c/kg. Quality was mixed with most lambs lacking some finish. There were good runs of trade weights and light lambs for re-stockers. Most of the regular buyers were present. Lightweight processing lambs to 18kg gained $5 selling from $50 to $120/head. Trade weight lambs 20kg to 24kg eased $6, $130 to $177/head averaging 660c to 700c/kg cwt. Heavy lambs over 24kg were firm, they sold from $176 to $200/head to average between 700c and 720c/kg cwt. Hoggets reached $143/head. There was 3164 mixed quality mutton yarded where most categories held firm. Merino ewes sold to $88 and crossbreds $112/head. Wethers sold to $116 and rams to $16/head. Most sold between 300c and 320c/kg cwt.
