CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: LAMB & SHEEP SALE DATE: TUESDAY 25TH JUNE 2024 WEDNESDAY 26TH JUNE 2024 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 1860 Numbers dropped by 1140 for a yarding of 1860 cattle. Quality was fair to good with a good supply of prime yearlings and grown cattle. Medium weight feeders were in limited supply and there was a large portion of light weaners on offer. Not all the regular buyers were operating. Prime yearling steers sold 8c cheaper, 300c to 350c and prime yearling heifers gained 5c, 240c to 340c/kg. Feeder steers were firm to 5c cheaper selling from 280c to 373c while the feeder heifers sold 6c dearer, 250c to 316c/kg. Prime grown steers held firm, 220c to 350c and prime grown heifers were 8c dearer, 210c to 344c/kg. Cows were firm to dearer, 2 and 3 scores sold from 120c to 230c while heavy prime cows sold from 215c to 250c/kg. Heavy bulls reached 230c/kg. Quality remains mixed with a good supply of trade and heavy lambs on offer as well as lightweight secondary lambs mixed throughout. Not all the regular buyers were present, and the market sold to a dearer trend. Lightweight processing lambs to 18kg gained $4, $50 to $120/head. Trade lambs 20kg to 24Kg sold $3 better, $153 to $188/ head, averaging 720c to 750c/kg. Heavy lambs were $6 dearer, the 24Kg to 26kg lambs sold from $190 to $208 and lambs over 26kg. $210 to $230/head, averaging between 760c and 780c/kg. Hoggets gained $10, the best reaching $172/head. There was 2232 mixed quality mutton yarded and prices held firm. Merino ewes sold from $25 to $95 and crossbreds, $53 to $132/head. Merino Wethers reached $93 and crossbred rams reached $40/head. Most sold between 330c and 360c/kg.
