My son, nephew and cousins are all eager to hit the lanes but before they start the actual event I've suggested to practice a little and be better. prepared. It's the lesson I try to teach. Preparation is key to success. Through my own career I can look back at the best events and the worst event and it's not rocket science to see the ones I do my best in, I feel most prepared for.
