2026 KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS OPEN! Supporting Our Youngest Learners - Bletchington's Thoughtful Transition to School Starting school is a milestone moment - a time of both excitement and uncertainty for children and their families. At Bletchington Public School, this important transition is supported with care, thoughtful planning and a strong sense of community. In 2025, the school has prepared a welcoming and purposeful transition program that reflects its commitment to building strong connections between students, families and staff from the very beginning. Our Transition to School Opportunities offer multiple points for children and their families to engage with the school environment, learn about expectations and begin building relationships with teachers and peers - long before the first official day of kindergarten. It begins with the Open Hour School Tour on Thursday, 7 August from 4:30pm to 5:30pm, where families can walk through the kindergarten spaces and ask questions in an informal setting. This first visit plays a crucial role in removing the mystery that often surrounds starting school. The program continues with our Strong Start Library Sessions, beginning on Tuesday 26 August, which offer structured story time every Tuesday or Thursday for five weeks. These sessions, held from 9:30am to 10:30am, go beyond storytelling - they focus on building early literacy and numeracy skills in a fun, engaging way led by experienced teachers. This is also a time when children can begin seeing school as a safe and exciting place for learning, with their parent or carer by their side. During Term 4, the experience deepens with Kindergarten Orientation Visits - a five-week program where each child will spend one day a week at school from 10 November to 12 December, learning the routines and getting to know the staff and environment during a four-hour visit. These sessions help children adjust at their own pace, working towards a confident and happy start to kindergarten. To wrap up the program, parents and carers are invited to a Kindergarten Information Session on Thursday 27 November from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. During this session, teachers and staff will share what students will be learning in kindergarten - including literacy and numeracy programs, curriculum plans, learning and support initiatives and how the school communicates with families. It's also a valuable opportunity for parents to ask questions and feel more connected to the school community. This well-considered transition program reflects Bletchington Public School's genuine commitment to student wellbeing and early learning success. It recognises that strong starts lead to strong futures - and that children thrive when schools and families work together. For more information families can contact the school office on 6362 3422.
