About
Central West Equine has been established as a dedicated equine veterinary centre, treating and caring for horses only. It is situated on a picturesque 200 acres of rich basalt soils and is only 10 minutes from the centre of Orange. Central West Equines facilities are second to none and include a 9 box stable complex, rubber lined undercover crush and work up area, separate stallion collection area with mount, 6 horse walker, and numerous paddocks varying in size all with horse safe fencing.
The practice was established by Dr David Searle who has more than 20 years experience in equine practice. After leaving Sydney University and working in Canberra, Dr Searle returned to Sydney University to complete a Graduate Diploma in large animal medicine and surgery. During the last 12 years Dr Searle was a senior partner at Illawarra Equine Practice and Southern Highlands Equine Centre along with Randwick Equine Centre.
Dr Searle developed Embryonix, an equine reproductive practice which was the first in Australia to commercially freeze equine embryos and also developed other advanced reproductive techniques. Dr Searle has travelled extensively internationally, attending conferences and seminars which were attended by the world’s leading specialists in the field.
Dr Searle was born and raised in Maitland, a small country town in NSW. Whilst he, Debbie his wife and three children have very much enjoyed living by the sea but have realised that their hearts are in the country. That’s why Dr Searle has decided to establish a dedicated equine practice in the Central West where he aims to provide world class veterinary care for horses of all types, including race, performance, kids’ ponies or breeding mares.
