Canowindra International Balloon Challenge is organised by Canowindra Challenge Incorporated (CCI) is a community organisation created in 2010. It has a long history of hot air ballooning dating back to the first modern hot air balloon flight in Australian in 1966. Attracting balloon pilots to Canowindra’s wide-open spaces, rolling hills and gentle winds Canowindra became known as the “Balloon Capital of Australia”. Every April Australia’s largest hot air balloon festival and the Canowindra community welcomes over 5000 visitors to the region, generating critical economic benefits to Canowindra and surrounds.
