Iberdrola Australia Some of you will know that Iberdrola Australia already owns and operates a wind farm in the region - the Flyers Creek Wind Farm, about 20km south of Orange. It's a 38 turbine wind farm which we finished building in 2024. We're big on looking after nature, so we launched the Flyers Creek Wind Farm Squirrel Glider Habitat Improvement Project later that year. Squirrel Gliders are listed as vulnerable in NSW, and they rely on tree hollows to breed and live. Suitable hollows often take more than 100 years to form. We teamed up with ecologists at local company Habitat Innovation and Management, which makes 3D printed nesting boxes. We installed their nest boxes at the wind farm and began monitoring them. We were pleased to find a family of Squirrel Gliders living in one of them and you can see some footage of them on the Squirrel Glider Cam on our website: https:// tinyurl.com/3uzhnted. We also erected poles connected by thick rope to allow Squirrel Gliders to travel between patches of bush without running along the ground - the Squirrel Glider Cam shows the gliders using the ropes like a highway. Our volunteers also planted 1200 seedlings which are the preferred species of the Squirrel Glider. We have two other potential proposals in the region: the 33-turbine Mullion Creek Wind Farm in the Mullions Range softwood pine plantation 20 kilometres north of Orange, on Wiradjuri Country, and the 21-turbine Four Mile Creek Wind Farm, which would be about 15 kilometres south of Orange in the Canobolas softwood pine plantation, also on Wiradjuri Country.
