CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 19TH MAY 2026 SALE YARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 2120 (-1481) Welcome rain throughout the region resulted in a significant decrease of numbers, for a total yarding of 2120 mixed, quality cattle. There were a few good pens of feeder steers, along with some plainer types and feeder heifers were well supplied, including an outstanding pen making 494c/kg. There were a few good runs of prime cattle and there were 640 cows. A full field of buyers were operating, selling to a firm to dearer market. Yearlings to process were 8c better, selling from 400c to 470c/kg. Feeder steers were firm to a few cents dearer, selling from 400c to 539c, and heifers to feed lifted 15c, ranging from 380c to 494c/ kg. A store sale coming up this Friday resulted in limited numbers of young cattle, with the steers topping at 543c/kg, and not enough numbers to quote the heifers. Heavy grown steers to process reached 470c, and the heifer portion sold from 398c to 460c/kg. Cows jumped 15c, with the 2 and 3 scores selling from 272c to 352c/ kg. Heavy prime cows topped at 395c, to average 375c/kg. Heavy bulls to process were price unchanged, making from 325c to 400c/kg. SHEEP & LAMB SALE DATE: WEDNESDAY 20TH MAY 2026 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 6440 (-189) SHEEP YARDING: 2170 (+71) LAMB YARDING: 4270 (-260) Numbers remained similar to last sale and quality improved with the trade and heavy weights in good condition along with the plainer lines throughout. There were mainly trades penned, some heavy weights and the light and store grades were in reduced supply. All the buyers were present, and competition was strong on the well finished trade and heavy lambs with the market much dearer. Light lambs to the processors sold from $230 to $246 while store grades sold from $125 to $244 and to feed $284 to $290/head. Medium and heavy trade weight lambs were $8 to $10/head dearer and averaged 1200c/kg cwt. The heavy trade 23 to 24kg sold from $270 to $299/head. Heavy weight lambs were also $6 to $11/head dearer and averaged from 1100c to 1175c/kg cwt. Heavy weight lambs sold from $297 to $305 while extra heavy weights sold from $310 to $347/head. Mutton numbers were unchanged, quality was varied throughout, and prices were firm on some grades and much dearer on others. Medium Merino ewes sold from $188 to $229 or 860c to 940c/kg cwt, while heavy Merino ewes sold from $230 to $240/head or 855c/kg cwt. Heavy first cross sold from $210 to $297/head or 780c to 885c/kg cwt.
