Cows made up almost half of the offering and there were some good runs of both middleweight and heavyweight steers suiting the feedlot buyers. All the usual buyers were operating, but not as active as previous sales, resulting in some cheaper prices. Yearling steers to process were firm, selling from 418c to 480c, and the heifer portion was up to 9c cheaper, making from 388c to 460c/kg. Middleweight feeder steers slipped 5c, and steers over 480kg to feed were considerably cheaper, quality related. Heifers to feed were also cheaper, ranging from 380c to 470c/ kg. Well-bred young cattle returning to the paddock were price unchanged, with the steers reaching 501c, and the heifers sold from 380c to 440c/kg, however the plainer types sold to much cheaper trends. Heavy grown steers lacked the quality of previous sales and consequently selling to cheaper prices, selling from 360c to 460c, and the best grown heifer made 460c/kg.. Cows continued to attract strong competition from both processors and the re-stockers, resulting in mostly firm to dearer trends. 2 and 3 scores ranged from 250c to 342c, and heavy prime cows topped at 376c, to average 363c/kg.
