CENTRAL TABLELANDS LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE - CTLX PRIME CATTLE SALE DATE: TUESDAY 5TH MAY 2026 SALE YARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 3688 (+421) Cows up to 40c dearer, and feeder steers lifting 20c/kg, were the highlights of the 3688 improved quality cattle, an increase of 400. There were some outstanding runs of heavyweight feeder steers, along with a few good pens of heavy grown cattle to process. There was an increased number of young cattle suiting the re- stockers, and there were 1280 cows. All the usual buyers were operating, along with three returned buyers, resulting in a dearer market. The limited supply of yearlings to process were firm selling from 400c to 470c/kg. Feeder steers were 20c better, making from 400c to 528c, and heifers to feed lifted 10c, ranging from 380c to 492c/kg. Well-bred young cattle returning to the paddock attracted strong competition, with the steers selling from 350c to 516c, and the heifers sold from 302c to 430c/kg. Heavy grown cattle to process lifted 5c,, with the steers reaching 484c, and the heifers topped at 475c/kg. Cows to process were up to 40c dearer. 2 and 3 scores ranged from 250c to 358c, and heavy prime cows sold from 336c to 382c/kg. The best heavyweight bull made 400c/kg. LAMB & SHEEP SALE DATE: WEDNESDAY 6TH MAY 2026 SALEYARD: CTLX CARCOAR TOTAL YARDING: 8400 (-170) SHEEP YARDING: 1750 (-650) LAMB YARDING: 6650 (+480) Supply lifted for the lambs and quality improved particularly for the heavy trade weights while the extra heavies were well presented. There were mainly trade lambs penned along with a reduced supply of heavies, the store and light grades were also in less numbers. All the buyers were operating, and competition was good on the trade and better store lambs and eased on the heavy weights. Light lambs to the processors sold from $190 to $220 while stores sold from $85 to $269 and the secondary trades to the feedlots from $273 to $277/head. Medium and heavy weight trade lambs were either side of firm and averaged from 1180c to 1215c/kg cwt. Heavy trade sold from $277 to $288/head. Heavy weight lambs were $9 to $10/head cheaper and averaged around 105c to 1140c/kg cwt. Heavy weight sold from $286 to $290 while extra heavy weight lambs sold from $299 to $320/head. Mutton numbers fell and quality was not as good as previous sales and prices improved $3 to $8/ head. Medium Merino ewes sold from $173 to $220, heavy first cross ewes sold from $191 to $270/ head averaging around 780c to 820c/kg cwt.
